[ profile] blown_wish kindly shared the 7 questions meme with me. If anyone would like seven questions, I'll do my best. If you would rather just comment on one or more of my answers, that's part of the game, too.

(1) What drew you to 383?
(2) Favorite food
(3) Manga Hakkai vs Anime Hakkai
(4) What is good writing?
(5) Yaoi
(6) Music
(7) Books

Hard to say. It was probably what keeps me in 383. They fit together, and balance. They don't, normally, have as obvious a passion as 53 or Kou/Sanzo (my other two favourites), but it can be as deep. In some ways it's rather like 585. But, with all apologies to 585 fans, in that pairing Hakkai is apt to dominate. Gojyo's perfectly okay with that, of course.

Favourite food is apt to alter with the seasons. In winter I'll go with baked potatoes stuffed with whatever lifeform the fridge has lately evolved. Even I can't spoil baked potatoes. In summer it's mushroom risotto with almonds. I insist it's bad luck to leave out the almonds. And that almonds are good luck in everything. Except baked potatoes.

Perhaps people who know more than me find different characterisations, but I like to consider them two drawings of the same subject, the anime using a rather lighter palette. This is very convenient, as I can conflate them however I want. (Still, some fans seem to feel the manga is the real canon, and consider the anime as a historical film starring Brad Pitt.)

I bet your English teachers taught you better than I could, what good writing is. As someone who could never manage it, I'd like to say the dialogue should be vividly coloured, and the description transparent.

Yaoi? Yaoi not? For Saiyuki I'd have more yaoi. And het. And gen. I can even wistfully imagine, elsewhen, an alternative tradition of good writing with ofcs.

The art of my tin ear stops short at Offenbach and G&S, and I don't suppose anyone will need those recced. Though I would like to chunter that, though I love Cats, the popularity of Memory baffles me.
